Hayman Island State School is located on Hayman Island in the Whitsunday group, about 50 kilometres from mainland Australia. Our remote school site is accessible only to staff children and resident guests of Hayman Island Resort. The journey over to our little patch of paradise will take you 55 minutes aboard one of the resort's vessels that ferries guests, staff, contractors and departmental visitors from Coral Sea Marina in Airlie Beach.

At Hayman Island State School we are focused on providing a positive, supportive and academically rigorous environment. Our students learn in a multi-age environment where all student's academic and social needs are addressed.  We embrace contextutalised learning within our curriculum delivery and we have a school motto of 'Authentic Learning In Paradise' - The Hayman Way.  We have a teaching principal and a classroom teacher. Currently we have students enrolled from  Prep to year 6.

With the small numbers of students in the school, we can provide highly individualised teaching, while still implementing the Australian Curriculum.

Hayman Island has had an operating primary school since 1956 when Reg Ansett owned the island. The school celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2006, where we were able to get the first principal of the island, Mrs Elvira Davies, to return for a visit.

The Hayman Island Resort employs all our parents and gives great support to the school. We communicate with our community through emails, website news articles, our school Facebook page and of course face-to-face contact!

We welcome you to our wonderful school.
